There are a number of fun events and activities to enjoy in Palm Beach County this holiday season. From holiday music to a sand Christmas tree, and even a bit of “snowfall,” there is plenty to do with family and friends.

Let’s explore the top holiday events and activities happening in Palm Beach County this year.

1. Sandi Land

Sandi, the world’s one and only 700-ton, 35-foot-tall sand tree, in the city of West Palm Beach, will make its 10th appearance this year. Sandi is located on the Great Lawn in downtown West Palm Beach, west of Flagler Drive, at the east end of Clematis Street.

This year, Sandi and a notable cast of supporting characters from over the years, including her dog, Duke; Merry the Mermaid; and Hope the Flamingo, made their debut on December 2, when the annual light shows and music began.

Running through December 31 at midnight, the light shows will run nightly from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. (with some adjusted times during special events). Families will also enjoy the “dancing water” light show at Centennial Square Fountain.

Meet Santa

In addition, kids can visit and take pictures with Santa, who will be safely located inside an adorable snow globe, on December 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and at the annual Sandi’s Pancake Breakfast on December 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the West Palm Beach GreenMarket. The 3rd Annual Pancake Breakfast costs $6 per person (plus a processing fee).

More Holiday Activities 

Palm Beach residents and visitors can also visit Sandi and friends while shopping at the West Palm Beach GreenMarket on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. or join Sandi for a narrated storytime on the Great Lawn, followed by a showing of “The Santa Clause 2,” on Friday, December 10 from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Thursdays through Sundays from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., try out the nine-hole TEE-KI Time mini-golf course for $3 per person, and don’t miss the Aloha Islanders Tropical Holiday Spectacular on December 19 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a high-energy Polynesian hula music show on the waterfront.

2. The Famous Delray Beach Christmas Tree

For the 27th year, the world-famous 100-foot tall Christmas Tree will be on display for all to enjoy through January 1st, 2022. The 100 Foot Christmas Tree was named “Best Tree in the State of Florida” by Travel + Leisure.

In addition to the tree, downtown Delray will join in the fun with festive holiday street décor and a variety of events to spread the joy of the season.

Catch the Boynton Beach Holiday Boat Parade on December 10 at 6:30 p.m. The parade starts at the Ocean Avenue Bridge in Lantana (near Old Key Lime House) and travels south to the C-15 Canal in Delray Beach (south of Linton Boulevard).

Starting at 6:00 p.m. on December 11, the Delray Beach Holiday Parade travels from the Atlantic Ave bridge to NW 5th Avenue with 20 blocks of room to watch the parade along Atlantic Avenue.

The annual Delray Beach Jingle Bell Jog 5K is Saturday, December 18 at Anchor Park at 340 South Ocean Blvd. All participants receive a Santa Suit Costume and a pair of Jingle Bells to tie to their shoes. The 5K starts at 7:30 am, with Little Elf Dashes at 8:30 a.m..

Now through January 1, 2022, you can take part in various Holiday Village activities, including the Holiday Carousel ($3 per ride), Photos with Santa ($12 takeaway photo), and ice skating ($3 for skating, which includes skate rental, and $3 for socks, which are required for skating).

This holiday season, consider donating to those who need it the most. The Delray Beach Initiative to End Homelessness is asking for donations of new or gently used:

  • Women’s shorts size 6 to 12
  • Men’s shorts size 30 to 36
  • T-shirts medium to extra large

You can bring donations to the St Matthews Episcopal Church parking lot, 404 SW 3rd St, from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Tuesdays or Fridays.

3. Palm Beach Zoo and Conservation Society Zoo Lights

Families and friends are invited to explore the Palm Beach Zoo for the annual Zoo Lights, held on select dates from now through January 2, 2022:

  • December 10-12, 17-23, 26-30
  • January 1-2

As the zoo’s inhabitants sleep, guests walk through holiday theme displays lit by one million eco-friendly lights. The event runs from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and also features a DJ holiday dance party, s’mores by the fire, seasonal treats, and photos with Santa (through December 23rd).

4. Lights 4 Hope

The 2021 Holiday Light Show presented by Lights 4 Hope features a drive-through holiday extravaganza with synchronized music and holiday characters. The event is being held this year at Okeeheelee Park in West Palm Beach on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays (except Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve) through January 2, 2022. 5. The Wishing Tree Snowfall and Lightshow

Have a white Christmas at The Wishing Tree in The Square in West Palm Beach through December 31. No reservations are required, and the nightly snowfall and light shows at 6:30, 7:30, and 8:30 p.m. are totally free.

6. Christmas With the Chimps at Lion Country Safari

Only one day every year do you have the chance to get out of your vehicle to see and hear the chimpanzees at Lion Country Safari, and this year that day is Thursday, December 16.

Arrive at the park by 9:30 a.m. to have enough time to drive through the preserve and get to the chimp islands, where you will see them explore a decorated island and open wrapped presents. This event is included in the regular Lion Country Safari admission ($37 for ages 10 and up and $30 for children ages 3-9).

7. Merry Movie Monday and Gift-Wrapping Demonstration

Monday, December 13 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Commission Chambers (located on the 1st floor of City Hall in Boynton Beach), enjoy Merry Movie Monday. In addition to a screening of the classic holiday film, “Elf,” there will be seasonal snacks, eggnog, hot cocoa, coffee, and tea. 

Last but not least, bring as many as 5 unwrapped gifts and learn how to wrap them like a pro, with wrapping paper, scissors, tape, and bows provided.

8. The Art of Japanese Gift Presentation

Make your gifts stand apart from everybody else’s by attending the Art of Japanese Gift Presentation at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach. Workshop tools and materials will be provided along with the presentation.

The beauty of Japanese packaging and design often incorporates unconventional as well as natural materials and a mix of contemporary and traditional aesthetics.

There will be 2 sessions offered on December 11, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The cost is $35 per session as well as a $10 cash material fee paid directly to the instructor.

December 18, 20-24, and 27-30 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., have Holiday Tea at HMF for $115 per person. In addition to a curated selection of teas, you can enjoy delicacies like warm buttermilk scones, handcrafted tea sandwiches, delicate pastries, and more.

Don’t want to cook a holiday meal this year? Celebrate in style with special 3-course prix fixe menus on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Lunch is from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. and costs $145 per person and $60 for children under 12. Dinner is served from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and costs $195 per person and $75 for children 12 and under.
