Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day Outdoors
Fathers who adore being around nature are sure to love these suggestions for outdoor activities.
Go to the Beach
If your dad loves the lull of the waves, take him to one of Palm Beach County’s numerous beaches. With some exceptions, Palm Beach County’s Ocean Rescue lifeguards protect swimmers seven days a week from 9:00 a.m. – 5:20 p.m., so Dad can relax a bit knowing there are extra eyes on the kids. Whether he prefers sunbathing, making sandcastles, stand-up paddleboarding, or other water sport activities, Florida beaches offer it!
Take a Hike
Nature-loving fathers will have fun tackling one of Palm Beach County’s many hiking trails. Pick one that’s easy enough for the kids and do it as a family, or send him off for some alone time on the path of his choice. Either way, he’s sure to come back feeling refreshed!
Take Him on a Safari
Is an African safari on your dad’s bucket list? Take him to Lion Country Safari in Loxahatchee for a local Father’s Day safari experience. This drive-through safari park features more than 1,000 wild animals from 90 species, including zebras, giraffes, lions, chimpanzees, rhinos, and more. In addition to the safari park, Lion Country has an Adventure Park with rides and other attractions.
Go Camping
Whether Dad loves the lake (Torry Island Campground), the beach (Peanut Island Park or Jonathan Dickinson State Park), or the sound of lions roaring (Lion Country Safari KOA), there’s a campground that checks those boxes somewhere in Palm Beach County. Don’t forget to pack ingredients for s’mores the whole family can enjoy around the campfire.

Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day at Home
Sometimes, a laid-back day at home is just what Father’s Day calls for.
Garden Together
If Dad has a green thumb, have him teach you or the kids how to tend to his garden. Not only will he enjoy sharing his passion with his kids, but the youngsters will learn important skills they can use for the rest of their lives, especially if they pick up Dad’s love of gardening. If the garden is far enough along, you may even be able to make Father’s Day dinner with produce you picked from his garden.
Help Dad Wash the Car
Whether it’s a task your father loves or hates, he’s sure to appreciate getting some help washing the car. He can explain to the kids the importance of maintaining valuable possessions – or make the chore more fun by starting with a water balloon or water gun fight! Either way, sunny South Florida is the perfect place for this wet task.
Have a Family Game Night
Put away the video games and have an old-fashioned game night with Monopoly, charades, Jenga, Scrabble, or another classic board game. Or, have Dad teach the teens how to play poker, placing bets with candy or nuts. Regardless of what games you play, your father is sure to enjoy spending some in-person time with the whole family away from screens for a few hours.
