It’s back-to-school time in Palm Beach County, and that means shopping. Luckily, Palm Beach County has all the stores you need to stock up on school supplies, clothes, shoes, backpacks, and lunch boxes in preparation for the new school year.

Palm Beach County School District does not require uniforms. However, individual schools may require them.

Here’s what you need to know about dress codes – before you begin shopping – as well as start dates, school times, and where to stock up on your back-to-school supplies for schools attended by students living in Sky Cove and Sky Cove South of Westlake.

Shirts

  • Shirts must have collars and sleeves. Undershirts, sheer shirts, and camisoles/tank tops should not be visible.
  • The only t-shirts allowed are “school-sponsored” ones.
  • All shirts must fit properly. They may not be too short/tight. Skin should not be exposed at the waistline, even when arms are extended above the head.
  • Shirts may be any color, have stripes, or small logos no larger than a half-dollar.
  • Shirts MAY NOT display any writing or graphics that refer to sex, drugs, violence, gangs, alcohol, tobacco, or other sensitive topics.

Tuesday will be T-Shirt Tuesday. Students may wear their favorite, school-appropriate, T-shirt.

Pants & Shorts

  • All bottoms must be khaki, blue, or black.
  • All bottoms must fit properly at the waist.
  • Shorts/Skirts/Skorts must be at fingertip length, with the appropriate colors.
  • Jeans or Pants are allowed on any day, but must be khaki, blue, or black.
  • Leggings may be worn under fingertip-length shorts, skirts, or skorts. Leggings must be a solid khaki, blue, or black.
  • Pants/shorts may NOT have holes in them.
  • Pants or shorts may not have any writing on them.
  • Students may NOT wear athletic bottoms (sweatpants, gym shorts, bathing suits, etc.)

Shoes

  • Shoes must be closed toe and closed back.
  • No flip-flops, slippers, or platform shoes are allowed.

General

  • No exposed undergarments, sports jerseys, or sleepwear.
  • No caps, hats, bandanas, or sunglasses. Hats may be worn outside for sun protection during recess and PE.
  • Any attire or jewelry deemed unsafe, inappropriate, or disruptive is NOT allowed.

Dress Code Regulations

This dress code applies to all school activities. The school administration reserves the right to deny any clothing or other items not specifically listed above which are deemed disruptive or inappropriate to the school environment. All students participating in extra-curricular activities (i.e., patrols, chorus, band, etc.) must adhere to our dress code to take part in these activities.

Disciplinary action will be taken when students fail to follow the dress code. Parents will be contacted when improperly dressed and required to bring suitable attire to school.

Osceola Creek Middle School Dress Code

  • Dress Codes checks are conducted every morning in the first period.
  • All Dress Code violators will be monitored, and consequences given for repeat offenders.
  • A parent/guardian will be contacted regarding the violation and consequence.

The Dress Code Policy is as follows:

  • Head coverings of any kind are prohibited while on campus.
  • Student IDs and lanyards MUST be worn daily while in attendance at school or any function.
  • Logos must be no larger than a quarter. Writing (other than OCMS attire) is not permitted on shirts or pants
  • Holes or rips in any clothing are prohibited.
  • P.E. uniforms are ONLY to be worn in P.E.

Tops

  • Polo-style shirts or t-shirts – Plain, patterns, and stripes are permitted (no graphics/designs, writing, or images). Manufacturers’ logos are permissible if they measure one square inch or smaller.
  • Official Osceola Creek Middle School clothing/T-shirts are permissible.
  • Shirts that reveal waistline, midriff, or that are see-through are prohibited.

Bottoms

  • May be solid/stripe color pants/jeans or solid/stripe color shorts and skirts that are at least fingertip length.
  • All pants and shorts must be worn at the waist. (No sagging below the waist and no revealing of any undergarments, whether it is boxers or shorts.)
  • No holes, tears, or frayed pants/shorts
  • Tights, yoga pants, jeggings, and leggings are prohibited.

Shoes

  • Appropriate shoes must be worn at all times. Sandals, backless shoes, high heels, flip flops, open-toed shoes, or slippers are not permitted.

Outerwear

  • All clothing worn underneath MUST be dress code appropriate.
  • Must be a pullover or a zip-up jacket.
  • Button-up shirts and long-sleeve T-shirts are not jackets.

Miscellaneous:

  • Body decorations, hairstyles, mouthpieces, or other markings which may cause a disruption to the classroom environment are prohibited.
  • No heavy or excessive jewelry, chains, dog collars, unsafe or weapon-related accessories. Any jewelry deemed potentially disruptive or dangerous by administration will be prohibited.

Seminole Ridge Community High

No specific dress code, but student clothing must follow the district’s general rules about clothing, which can be found in the Student & Family Handbook.

The Gardens Mall

A traditional indoor mall with AC for those sweltering summer days, The Gardens Mall is anchored by Sears, Bloomingdale’s, Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom, and Macy’s, and is a great place to look for back-to-school clothes. And if the family works up an appetite from all that shopping, the Gardens Mall food court offers options for every member of the family including Chipotle, Chinatown, Shake Shack, Sbarro, Chick-Fil-A, and California Pizza Kitchen.
